Srimad Bhagavatam

At a Glance!!!

What is Srimad Bhagavatam?

The Srimad-Bhagavatam is an epic philosophical & literary classic. The timeless wisdom of India is expressed in the Vedas, ancient Sanskrit texts that touch upon all fields of human knowledge and provides illuminating answers, concerning everything from the nature of the self to the origin of the universe. Originally preserved through oral tradition, the Vedas were first put into writing by Srila Vyasadeva, the "literary incarnation of God." Known as "the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature," Srimad-Bhagavatam is the most complete and authoritative exposition of Vedic knowledge.

It is stated “This Bhāgavata Purāṇa is as brilliant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the departure of Lord Kṛṣṇa to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc. Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of ignorance in the Age of Kali shall get light from this Purāṇa." (SB 1.3.43)

The 18 books edition of Srimad Bhagavatam is the only complete translation with an elaborate and scholarly commentary which is the product of the scholarly & devotional effort of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the world's most distinguished teacher of Indian religious & philosophical thought.

What is importance of Bhadra Purnima?

Srila Sukadeva Goswami offers this benediction - "If on the full moon day of the month of Bhādra one places Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam on a golden throne and gives it as a gift, he will attain the supreme transcendental destination" - SB 12.13.13

On the auspicious occasion of Bhādra Purnima which is on 2nd September 2020, ISKCON Bhiwandi request you to kindly participate in the global effort to save our Vedic culture by mass distribution of Srimad Bhagavatam sets.

Glories of Srimad Bhagavatam

Ultimate Good for All

This Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the literary incarnation of God, and it is compiled by Śrīla Vyāsadeva, the incarnation of God. It is meant for the ultimate good of all people, and it is all-successful, all-blissful and all-perfect. (SB 1.3.40)

Gives Relief from Miseries

Whoever carefully recites the mysterious appearances of the Lord, with devotion in the morning and in the evening, gets relief from all miseries of life. (SB 1.3.29)

Propounds the Highest Truth

Completely rejecting all religious activities which are materially motivated, this Bhāgavata Purāṇa propounds the highest truth, which is understandable by those devotees who are fully pure in heart. The highest truth is reality distinguished from illusion for the welfare of all. Such truth uproots the threefold miseries. This beautiful Bhāgavatam, compiled by the great sage Vyāsadeva [in his maturity], is sufficient in itself for God realization. What is the need of any other scripture? As soon as one attentively and submissively hears the message of Bhāgavatam, by this culture of knowledge the Supreme Lord is established within his heart. (SB 1.1.2)

And Much More........

Appreciation for Srimad Bhagavatam

"The Srimad-Bhagavatam is the authorized explanation of Brahma-sutra, and it is a further explanation of Mahabharata. It is the expansion of the gayatri mantra and the essence of all Vedic knowledge. This Srimad-Bhagavatam, containing eighteen thousand verses, is known as the explanation of all Vedic literature."
